SDSU Aztec Nutrition Center

SDSU Aztec Nutrition Center

Environmental Graphics & Signage | San Diego State University

The Project

The new Aztec Nutrition Center at San Diego State University was created as the training table for SDSU student athletes. The space needed more than functional signage. It needed to feel unmistakably SDSU.

V Group worked with Aztec Shops to produce and install signage and environmental graphics throughout the new facility, using SDSU’s visual identity, history and traditions to help transform the interior.

Our Approach

Rather than relying on repetitive logo placement, the graphics were designed to make different areas of the facility feel connected while giving each its own visual moment.

The finished space incorporates large scale wall graphics, dimensional and applied graphics, SDSU marks, Aztec imagery, historical iconography and elements celebrating the university’s traditions.

From the prominent Aztec Nutrition Center identification at the serving area to the oversized Aztecs graphics, fight song wall and historical imagery throughout the dining space, each element contributes to the overall environment.

The Result

The completed Aztec Nutrition Center feels less like a traditional dining facility and more like an extension of the SDSU Athletics experience.

Bold black, white and red graphics carry the university identity throughout the space while the different installations highlight the history and traditions that have become part of the SDSU brand.

For V Group, the project is another example of how signage and environmental graphics can do more than identify a space. They can help tell its story and create a stronger connection between the people using it and the organization it represents.
